Community Builder

Holly City Development Corporation (HCDC), Millville, NJ is seeking to hire a Community Builder to work closely with its staff, residents and partner agencies, local businesses, and governmental offices in planning and executing a variety of community events. This role is part-time but can lead to a full time position.

 

HCDC’s priority is to revitalize Millville’s neighborhoods. Through Housing, Economic Development, and Community Development. The projects and programming that are implemented are derived from feedback we receive from a multitude of stakeholders including: residents, business owners and 40+ partner agencies. We take a grassroots approach to our engagement efforts,meeting people where they are and providing opportunities to share what they envision for their community.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborates with staff, community partners, and residents to understand the community’s interests and needs

  • Leads events and activities of HCDC’s grant funded programs

  • Works closely with HCDC’s staff in the implementation of programs

  • Collects data on program activities

  • Works directly with community at local events

  • Recruits and coordinates volunteers for neighborhood projects and revitalization activities

  • Maintains effective working relationships with partners and community members

  • Performs special duties as may be assigned according to program needs

 

Skills:

  • Personable, outgoing and enjoys interacting and supporting people

  • Organized with time management skills

  • Able to establish strong working relationships with people from varying backgrounds

  • Able to work with a flexible schedule including some evenings and weekends

  • Strong communication (written and verbal) skills

  • Works independently and as an effective member of a team

  • Strong computer skills, including demonstrated use of WORD and Excel

  • Self-starter, self-initiative and able to think logically

 

Experience and Education:

Experience with event planning and community outreach is a plus

 

Pay and benefits:

Pay: $16.50 per hour.
