Holly City Development Corporation awarded $85,000 Neighborhood Planning
Grant from Wells Fargo Regional Foundation
MILLVILLE, NJ The Holly City Development Corporation (HCDC), a non-profit community development corporation working in the Center City neighborhood of Millville, is excited to announce that
it has been selected by the Wells Fargo Regional Foundation to receive an $85,000 Neighborhood Planning Grant.
This grant will help support a resident driven planning process that will result in a comprehensive strategic plan aimed at producing transformative change in the 36 block radius designated as the Center City neighborhood. The planning phase being funded by Wells Fargo will include several different resident engagement opportunities including: a door-to-door resident survey, a series of family-fun, community activities, small focus groups, and more.
“We are so thrilled to be working with the Wells Fargo Regional Foundation, and our other community partners, on this Neighborhood Planning effort,” stated Heather Santoro, Executive Director of the Holly City Development Corporation. “HCDC staff and the Steering Committee are looking forward to actively engaging residents over the course of the next several months, and beyond. We want to understand how the residents of Center City currently view their neighborhood and where they envision it heading for the future.”
“What is so exciting about this grant,” continued Santoro, “is that we get to focus on the families living in the neighborhood – their visions, their dreams, their opinions. And then we have the opportunity to develop a comprehensive plan that will provide a solid road map to making their feedback a reality. Ultimately our goal is to have the residents engaged, not only in developing the framework of this plan, but also in the implementation process as well.”
Established in 1998, Holly City Development Corporation focuses on community development, with a specific concentration on, and in, Millville’s Center City Neighborhood. HCDC’s recent projects include: the development and creation of a 3,000sq.ft. multi-use facility located at 14 East Mulberry called the Creative Enterprise Center; the annual summer Center City Playstreets Initiative; a Pascale Sykes Foundation funded family strengthening initiative, Connecting Families to Communities; the Millville Neighborhood Alliance; and more.
